The last thing I want to do is two podcasts in one day. And the last LAST thing I want to do is yet another podcast about Tesla. With that being said, it wasn't seconds after I finished my last podcast that it was revealed that Elon Musk was a top donor to a GOP PAC responsible for trying to keep Republican control of Congress. This has triggered the left and could be terrible for Elon Musk's public persona. I take to the air for an emergency Saturday night podcast to analyze and explain the situation.

When 12 kids and their soccer coach were rescued from a cave in Thailand, the entire world rejoiced. Except for Elon Musk, who took shots at the joint co-commander of the operation for not using his proposed solution. Late last week, an interview with another rescue worker on CNN International was released and has the rescue worker on camera not only saying that Musk could take his solution and ”stick it where it hurts“ but also stating that it would’ve never worked and basically that Elon had no idea what he was doing. I offer my take on the situation.

Quoth the Raven #47 - What in God's Name is Elon Musk Doing?
Thursday Jul 05, 2018
Thursday Jul 05, 2018
Instead of being thankful for the fact that his company still has a $50B+ valuation despite not turning a consistent profit, Elon Musk has chosen to spend most of his time nowadays on Twitter blaming everyone - ex-employees, CNBC, the Economist, Linette Lopez, oil companies and many others - for Tesla's troubles. I offer my thoughts on the situation, as well as what I think Elon could do tomorrow morning to make Tesla's standing as a public company much better.

Quoth the Raven #45 - Tesla, Tents and Team Member Turnover
Friday Jun 29, 2018
Friday Jun 29, 2018
It's been an interesting week in the world of Tesla. New information and photos have been published, detailing the company's hastily built production tent outside of its Fremont factory. More team members, including the company's Chief Information Officer, have also reportedly left. Also, Reuters reported that the company has still fallen short of its 5,000 Model 3 per week goal. Could this be the company purposely leaking false information to the media as a way to troll them?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been the story of the week, undoubtedly - and there's no doubt she has accomplished something remarkable, ousting 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in New York's 14th congressional district this week. As CNN put it, she "won over voters in the minority-majority district with a ruthlessly efficient grassroots bid, even as Crowley -- the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House -- outraised her by a 10-to-1 margin." She's no doubt the new hero for liberals. But the platform that she ran on and won with is nothing short of insane, and would be a disaster to both New York, and the country - if implemented. I explain my thoughts on why.

Kenny Polcari comes on and walks us through what the events of 9/11 were like from the floor of the NYSE, and the lasting impact that these events had on the way stocks traded after 2001.
Kenny Polcari graduated from Boston University, School of Management in 1983 with a B.S. / B.A. degree: concentration finance.
He came to Wall Street as a summer intern on the New York Stock Exchange during the summers of '80, '81 & '82 and upon graduation moved from Boston, Mass. to New York City where he began his career on the trading floor. He became a member of the New York Stock Exchange in August, 1985 and is currently a Managing Director at O'Neil Securities, Inc. and represents the interests of institutional asset managers that need to access global equity markets. Earlier in his career, Kenny served as managing director at Icap Corps, LLC, and prior to that was senior vice president, member New York Stock Exchange and division manager with Salomon Brothers directing their NYSE Division during the heady bull market of the 1990's.
His 30 years of experience has taken him from the birth of the greatest bull market, to the crash of '87, the roaring '90's, the .com implosion, decimalization, 9/11, Regulation NMS, the merger between the NYSE / ARCA, then NYSE/Euronext, automation, HFT, and fragmentation. He is an engaging public speaker and you can find him speaking at industry & investor conferences, as well as colleges, forums and major asset manager events. He is at ease speaking about NYSE history, rules & regulation, former & current market structure including internalization, HFT and fragmentation and how those changes have forever changed the face of the U.S. capital markets and what that means to the investor. He writes a daily "Morning Thoughts" missive that is an informative, engaging and entertaining look at global markets and provides insight into the day's action. It has gained wide popularity and has become a signature of his "boots on the ground" analytical style. He is a member of STA and NOIP and is a guest lecturer for The American College. Quoth the Raven #39 - Another Tesla Autopilot Accident: A Deadly Serious Discussion
Wednesday May 30, 2018
Wednesday May 30, 2018
Fair warning, this is a relatively serious podcast with little humor content. Why? Because another Autopilot incident was reported today, this time by the Laguna Beach Police Department, who put on their Twitter that a Model S had smashed into the side of a police cruiser while on Autopilot. The officer that spoke to the media said a similar accident happened at the same place in the road prior. This leads me to take a serious tone and ask a couple of questions: what are the lengths of negligence that Tesla could be found liable for, is the marketing being doing wrong for Autopilot or is the software literally being "debugged" on the road and who is going to finally step in and realize that lives could continue to be put at risk?

I was going to do a nice podcast about Memorial Day weekend until I walked downstairs and saw on the TV that Jim Cramer is apparently telling people that Dominos Pizza is a technology company now. I guess he is trying to justify the company having a 26X multiple and nearly 6X EBITDA in debt. This represents the absolute worst of the worst and I go on a rant about it, also trying to hold Mr. Cramer’s feet to the fire on past market manipulation statements he’s made and his propensity to have a long bias while hypocritically acting like short sellers are the worst thing in the world.

In a podcast that I did last week, I had Matt Stewart on to talk about the state of the Herbalife trade. One of the things that we tossed around was how Mr. Icahn was going to exit his stake in the company. With the news breaking today that Carl Icahn and Icahn Enterprises has tendered a significant portion of its shares back to the company, I thought it only fitting to have Matt back on the podcast to discuss what this exit means, and how Mr. Icahn may proceed moving forward.
Matt Stewart was one of my favorite people to read while the Herbalife debate was ongoing. He published over 180 quick witted articles on Seeking Alpha and because a friend of mine in the process. He's a private investor, former vice president & director of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. in Toronto and holds an Honors BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College. Matt also represented all BCE common shareholders as the 'intervenor' in the BCE v. Bondholder's case argued before the Supreme Court of Canada in July, 2008.

In this podcast, I talk about monetary policy as a whole - why I think its insane and why our current policy ensures that we are going to have another financial crisis much larger than the one we had in 2008. I talk about how the Fed is making problems worse by selectively bailing out companies and I give examples of actual free markets. If the stock market is just guaranteed to always go up and guys like Warren Buffett predict the Dow is just going to keep going to 1,000,000, is that really a market - or is it one of the biggest long cons in history? Hint: it's the latter.

This podcast discusses the two most common people who have recently been compared to Steve Jobs: Elizabeth Holmes, who has now been sued for fraud by the SEC and Elon Musk who - uh - hasn't. In this podcast I talk about the history of Apple and Steve Jobs as it compares to both Elizabeth Holmes and Elon Musk. I point out similarities and differences between Apple and Jobs when Apple first went public and Tesla and Elon Musk as it exists today.

In this podcast, I try to be a bit more objective about Tesla - I look at what I honestly think is a way the stock could rise 50% before the end of this summer - and a way that the stock could be absolutely crushed 50% before the end of the summer. These are both events that I think could happen any day. I explain my reasoning.
I talk about the news Tesla would need to deliver today (other than turning a profit) that could put a serious charge into the stock and create a squeeze. I also touch on a brand new NHTSA investigation into a Tesla Autopilot accident today that was reported by Reuters and discuss what a catastrophe it would be if the NHTSA issued a major recall. Finally, I talk about what I believe to be an incredibly damning statement Elon Musk made at the first Model 3 handovers in Fremont, CA during Summer 2017, and how it could come back to bite him in the ass badly.

In this podcast, I go in hard on the Fed and the government for creating a $1.5 trillion ticking time bomb that won't be able to be ignored much longer: the student debt bubble. This debt will ultimately wind up - somehow - being paid for by taxpayers. The bubble would have never gotten this big if the morons in government didn't subsidize and insure the industry, causing lending and borrowing standards to drastically encourage anyone and everyone to go to college. Instead, people use their student loan money to party and pay rent - many students drop out. This debt will not be repaid and is a mini housing crisis waiting to happen again. I give the Fed the business in this podcast.

In this podcast, I rant quickly about the quality of the train stations in Philadelphia, where I live. At about 10:00 on, I start to address the question of what the fuck is possibly going on at Tesla - which saw yet another key exectuive reportedly leave the company. At a time where regulatory safety scrutiny is at all time highs with Tesla, it was reported that "executive Matthew Schwall, who had been the director of field performance engineering, has left the company for Waymo, as the NTSB investigates multiple crashes involving Tesla vehicles." Schwall was said to be the key point of contact between Tesla and safety regulators. In addition, another executive at the company is taking a "leave of absence". What continues to cause these executive departures? Could it be morale? Do people on the inside at Tesla know that the yellow brick road could soon be ending?

Quoth the Raven #29 - Elon Musk's Joyride at Tesla is Over
Wednesday May 09, 2018
Wednesday May 09, 2018
In this podcast I talk about what looks to be a coming proxy war at Tesla and new reports of a Model S crash that broke today. I talk about how the current environment surrounding Tesla makes it feel like right now is a time for Elon to put up or shut up when it comes to cash flow and profitability. If a new board is put into place, Musk will either be ousted or the situation at the company will get ugly in my opinion. Either way, it is time for Elon Musk to face some real accountability and, barring a situation where he can miraculously turn the company profitable this year, I think volatility and downside for Tesla stock remains.

Quoth the Raven #27 - Short the Whole Fucking Thing: The Podcast
Saturday May 05, 2018
Saturday May 05, 2018
In this podcast, I review a speech I gave earlier this week. On May 3, 2018 at Kase Learning's "The Art of Short Selling" event QTR gave a presentation about why going long gold can be a great way to "short the whole fucking thing" - the global financial system as we know it. Institutional Investor described the presentation as "profanity-laden and drawing frequent laughs". Kase has told me that video of the event will be up soon but, until then, I wanted to take some time and review what I talked about and why I think there's nothing wrong with owning a little more gold and trusting the government and our economic system a little less.
My presentation slides can be found here: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-05-04/short-whole-fucking-thing

In this episode of the podcast, I discuss why I think its a cowardly stunt for Elon Musk to take a conference call question from a 25 year old who thinks the stock will be at $2,200/share and a $500B market cap by 2023. Instead, Musk should sack up and welcome questions from skeptics and short sellers if he really wants some credibility that isn't just PR fluff. In addition I talk about Timkin's great earnings report, why the stock should be up 40% from here today and why no one gives a shit about profitability or cash flow anymore.

It was breaking news today that President Trump has been told he is not a target in either the Cohen investigation or the Mueller investigation. Could this be true, or could this be a decoy? I discuss my thoughts on both matters. Additionally, I talk about why I believe Fresno State Professor Randa Jarrar - who's 1st amendement rights I wholly support - is a coward and a hypocrite. Today seems like a good day to exercise some first amendment rights of my own.

On today's podcast, QTR takes note of Amazon's shareholder letter - released after hours on 4/18/2018 - and talks about the effect on the company's stock as a result of AMZN announcing they have over 100M Prime subscribers. QTR put on a lotto trade of $1600 AMZN calls (weekly) on Monday of this week for $0.20 - he discusses the implications of such a trade and where it could wind up by Friday. In addition, QTR talks about today's Bloomberg report that states that Tesla is now under CA state investigation for its workplace safety practices.

In this episode, QTR looks at the 60 Minutes expose of Allegiant Air that aired Sunday night. The expose showed that Allegiant had an alarming 3.5x the mechanical issues than other major airlines and took testimonial horror stories from passengers and aviation experts. QTR talks about how the airline monopoly is wholly unfair and how it screws customers - I also talk about why I think Allegiant stock could easily head back to $100 per share as a result of this unearthing of disturbing facts.

Elon Musk once again stopped his company's stock from breaching under the $300 level today by Tweeting last night - at 1AM PST and 4AM EST - that the company would be cash flow positive by Q3 or Q4 of this year. This comes in addition to his statements earlier this month that the company will not need a capital raise in 2018. If either of these statements turn out to be untrue, I explain why I believe regulators should go after Elon Musk and Tesla for misleading shareholders and the public.

Mallinckrodt stock was down 6.7% today on a whistleblower lawsuit that alleged the same thing that short sellers have been alleging for years - the company doesn't have any fucking clue what's in the one drug it has used to, at one point, make itself into a $10 billion plus company and the drug doesn't seem to have any robust double blind clinical data supporting its use in most of its nearly 17 off label uses. This could be the most appaling pharmaceutical story in history and its been unfolding under our noses - and without regulators doing a thing about it - for nearly a decade.

Facebook stock ripped today, 4/10/2018 as Mark Zuckerberg deftly outsmarted and danced around questions lobbed at him by members of Congress who have yet to still figure out what the internet is and how it works. Facebook joins Equifax and numerous Presidential administration appointees in the "all talk, no action" congressional hearings department. You're not under oath and there's no consequences for lying, Mr. Zuckerberg - enjoy your tough day on the hill!

The headline at the end of the day today was that Michael Cohen, President Trump's lawyer, had his office and home raided by the FBI. What is Mueller looking for here - is it pertaining to Russian collusion or could he be meddling around in this Stormy Daniels mess? What's the worst (and best) case scenario for President Trump and what do each of these stories potentially mean for the stock market going forward? QTR does his best to take a bipartisan and common sense look at what could possible come of this whole mess.

Longfin Corp (LFIN) stock was halted with the dreaded T12 code today and simultaneously sued by the SEC, almost positively ensuring that if you're long, you're going to face a total loss. QTR talks about the halt, what it means if you're long or short, why CNBC shouldn't be allowed to take credit and why a Tweet put out this morning by Muddy Waters Research is 100% accurate in defending short selling to the President of the NYSE who foolishly called it "icky" in the summer of 2017.

In this podcast, QTR talks about media hyping IPOs and why watching the Spotify and Alibaba IPOs made him sick to his stomach. He talks about how private financing is looking, generally, to cash out on an IPO and how the finances and narrative of a story are geared to look as good as possible before a stock trades publicly. IPO's are not the sexy story that the media always seems to make them out to be, and companies like Blue Apron and GoPro are perfect examples of this.

Tuesday Apr 03, 2018
Tuesday Apr 03, 2018
This podcast is about Tesla. We have a bull and a bear and a (somewhat) objective (but slightly skeptical) (also increasingly drunk on wine) moderator.
In the bull camp, Ross Gerber from Gerber Kawasaki. Ross is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management.
