March 21, 2019
On this podcast, I briefly scream about a budding feud between two of my least favorite people in the financial world, Jim Cramer and Elon Musk.

Quoth the Raven #108 - Our Bullshit Economy: Part 9 of 515

March 20, 2019

In the latest installment of my critically acclaimed* "Our Bullshit Economy" series, I rant about the FOMC minutes from today, where they commit to not raising rates for the rest of the year, apparently missing the fact that the stock market has already rallied from early year lows to all time highs.

Quoth the Raven #107 - Tesla Talk: Jim Cramer Finds His Brain Edition

March 19, 2019
On this podcast, I rant about Jim Cramer "coming around" on Tesla and slamming Elon Musk on CNBC today. Despite being right, I am still unamused by Cramer. I also talk about the company asking for "volunteers" for delivery and other inane nonsense.

Fleck is back - today we argued for a half hour about why he doesn't think the plunge protection team buys S&P futures, why he is short numerous chip companies in the semiconductor industry, why he is now finally short Tesla ("it's a car company with a shit load of problems"), what he sees for gold going forward, how 2019 could shape up and why "nothing central bankers have done has worked".

Bill is a professional money manager with over 30 years of experience. He has written daily commentary on market action since 1996 and FleckensteinCapital.com launched in 2003. His website is: https://www.fleckensteincapital.com/

Quoth the Raven #99 - Aaron Greenspan

January 26, 2019

Aaron Greenspan is the self-proclaimed missing piece from the Facebook story as it has been documented in films like "The Social Network". He created the original 'Face Book' at Harvard and was peers with Mark Zuckerberg. He joins me on my podcast to talk about his recent report that claims more than half of Facebook's user base could be "fake".

Aaron is an entrepreneur and engineer with a background in enterprise software. He is the President & CEO of Think Computer Corporation (http://www.thinkcomputer.com), as well as the founder of Think Computer Foundation (http://www.thinkcomputer.org), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Aaron has worked on engineering problems involving accounting, payments, and legal systems, among others. Though not a lawyer, he has represented himself and his company before several state and federal courts, as well as the United States Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Aaron has an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College and is the author of a memoir about his time there, during which he developed the predecessor to The Facebook.

Aaron also contributes to legal website PlainSite. In addition to making huge volumes of data accessible to the public free of charge, PlainSite lets ordinary citizens impact the law-making process. www.plainsite.org and @PlainSite on Twitter.

Quoth the Raven #94 - Sunday Stories: My History with Apple and the Culture Change After Steve Jobs

January 6, 2019

With Apple's stock performance becoming mainstream news, I thought back on my own history with the company. I had been a loyal Apple user since the late 80's and eventually went to work for the company in the early 2000's. While there, we launched the original iPhone and I bore firsthand witness to a key pivot for the company that would turn it into the $1 Trillion company it is today. Given the stock's pullback and the iPhone appearing to reach saturation, I wanted to recall, on a podcast, my history with the company and talk about some of the signs I saw as an employee as Apple grew from a magical turnaround story based on innovation into the corporate beast it is today.

Nobody was thinking about the markets on Sunday night until Steve Mnuchin decided to make a huge deal about them by calling the heads of banks and setting a meeting with the plunge protection team - on Christmas Eve. On this podcast, I rant about how fucked everything is. Happy holidays.

Quoth the Raven #86 - Mark Spiegel

December 5, 2018

(Audio improves throughout podcast)

Today, I spoke to Mark Spiegel about why he has 20% of his portfolio short Tesla and why he thinks there's a "100% chance" of eventual hyperinflation in the U.S.

Mark B. Spiegel is the Managing Member & Portfolio Manager of Stanphyl Capital Partners and is a New York-based equity investor. Prior to founding Stanphyl in 2011, he spent six years as an investment banker (most recently as a Principal with Piper Jaffray & Co.) financing public companies. Prior to becoming an investment banker Mark spent a year working for a microcap Nasdaq tech company, and he began his career with 17 years in the commercial real estate industry where he experienced firsthand the opportunities and challenges faced by a wide array of client companies. Mark believes that all these experiences– banking public companies, working for a public company and securing real estate for a wide variety of companies– combine to provide the kind of “real world” experience that’s extremely useful for an investor.

In today's latest installment of my critically acclaimed* "Our Bullshit Economy" series, I talk about Jerome Powell being neutered by President Trump and not having the balls to follow through on his neutral interest rate prognostications from just weeks ago. Is he grossly incompetent or just scared shitless of the stock market? I discuss.

Quoth the Raven #77 - Kenny Polcari

October 25, 2018

My friend Kenny Polcari joins me again to talk about:

1. The recent volatility in the markets

2. Why he thinks the Fed must continue to raise rates

3. Why he thinks Democrats taking the Senate could lead to 1,000 point drop in the Dow in one day

4. How he likes his vodka martinis

Kenny Polcari graduated from Boston University, School of Management in 1983 with a B.S. / B.A. degree: concentration finance.

He came to Wall Street as a summer intern on the New York Stock Exchange during the summers of '80, '81 & '82 and upon graduation moved from Boston, Mass. to New York City where he began his career on the trading floor. He became a member of the New York Stock Exchange in August, 1985 and is currently a Managing Director at O'Neil Securities, Inc. and represents the interests of institutional asset managers that need to access global equity markets. Earlier in his career, Kenny served as managing director at Icap Corps, LLC, and prior to that was senior vice president, member New York Stock Exchange and division manager with Salomon Brothers directing their NYSE Division during the heady bull market of the 1990's.

His 30 years of experience has taken him from the birth of the greatest bull market, to the crash of '87, the roaring '90's, the .com implosion, decimalization, 9/11, Regulation NMS, the merger between the NYSE / ARCA, then NYSE/Euronext, automation, HFT, and fragmentation. He is an engaging public speaker and you can find him speaking at industry & investor conferences, as well as colleges, forums and major asset manager events. He is at ease speaking about NYSE history, rules & regulation, former & current market structure including internalization, HFT and fragmentation and how those changes have forever changed the face of the U.S. capital markets and what that means to the investor. He writes a daily "Morning Thoughts" missive that is an informative, engaging and entertaining look at global markets and provides insight into the day's action. It has gained wide popularity and has become a signature of his "boots on the ground" analytical style. He is a member of STA and NOIP and is a guest lecturer for The American College. He holds the series 7, 24, 27, 55, 63 registrations.

Quoth the Raven #72 - SEC Charges Elon Musk with Fraud, Montana Skeptic Rides Again

September 27, 2018

The SEC has charged Elon Musk with fraud. What does it mean for Tesla going forward? What does it mean for shareholders? Customers? Will additional charges follow? Will the DOJ weigh in? I break down the entire situation for 30 minutes before being joined by the one, the only, Montana Skeptic - fresh off his several month hiatus.

Montana Skeptic is a well known Tesla skeptic and short seller who wrote frequently on Seeking Alpha and has over 4,000 followers. He manages a $1B+ portfolio for a family office and invests using bonds, equities, hedge funds, and private investments with a wide geographical and asset class dispersion. He has a J.D. degree from Yale Law School and he practiced for 30 years as a trial lawyer in commercial cases. Elon Musk called his boss and made him stop writing critically about the company several months ago. Today, he rides again exclusively on the QTR Podcast.

In this episode of my podcast - which I swear is not a Tesla exclusive podcast - I talk about the fact that it was reported today that Tesla was the subject of a criminal probe by the Department of Justice. Quoth the Raven #65 - Tesla Shitshow, Act 12: “Staying Public”

August 25, 2018

At 11PM EST on a Friday night last night, Elon Musk announced in a blog post that the company would be staying public. This ends a three week shit show that took place after he came out and said he was considering taking the company private at $420 per share and that he had funding secured. I offer my take on this company which has turned into a full scale, four alarm, three ring circus.

Quoth the Raven #64 - Mark Spiegel

August 24, 2018

I swear, this is not a Tesla-only podcast. But today, I spoke to Mark Spiegel, one of the world's most well known Tesla short sellers.

August 19, 2018

Adam Spittler is an investor in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac preferred shares and has been following #FannieGate - the scandal of the government taking over Fannie and Freddie and essentially fucking over shareholders who lost nearly everything in the financial crisis - for years. In today's podcast, we talk about what has happened to Fannie and Freddie since the financial crisis, why investors lost everything to begin with, and what current shareholders are hoping with investments in the now decimated stock of both of these Government Sponsored Entities that are now in conservatorship. Adam is a CPA in the state of Pennsylvania and has an MS in Finance from Drexel. He worked 3 years at KPMG followed by 10+ years in corporate finance.

Quoth the Raven #61 - MoviePass Train-Wreck Exemplifies Horse Shit Wall Street “Analysis” - Oh, and Tesla Too

August 16, 2018

In this podcast, I rant about recent news that has broken on Tesla, what I believe to be Jim Cramer’s irresponsible handling of the situation and a Business Insider report on MoviePass today, describing how one investor lost $190,000 following the investment advice provided to him by “analyst coverage” available on E*TRADE.
